Pushback In Florida Today
Faith leaders are leading a march and rally today in Florida’s capital to push back against the Florida governor and legislature’s actions to remove history from history classes.
Because of actions in Florida, the College Board altered AP African American Studies coursework for the whole country to weaken and remove historical content and certain authors, and to add in “conservative” content.
Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network press release is titled “On Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Latest Crusade to Whitewash Black History.”
Here’s to hoping this gets wide media coverage. This is a great demonstration of leadership, and how to drive some of the narrative by having high profile people get together to call attention to an issue. Share it around.

It’s good to see. We need more narrative-driving, ruckus-raising action locally and nationally.
Shift the Country is putting together Zoom events right now to help us do a whole lot more of the ruckus-raising all over the place by late spring and summer. Follow this Substack for announcements, volunteer here, and send donations here or on ActBlue if you’re in a position to.
And talk about what’s going on in Florida and how it’s affecting this country and our future.
