It Is As Bad As It Looks - It Helps To See That
Yo. As all of this intensifies, don't let anyone tell you that it's okay or that it's normal or that it's not a big deal.
It's not okay and it's not normal and it is a big deal.
We need to act like it.
That takes extra effort though.
Because it sucks. It's hard to put your mind around everything that's going on. Plus it's going to get worse. In many ways. Soon the stories of legal trouble and injury and death just from one piece of our bigger story will be overwhelming.
It's way easier to try and deny it and tell everyone it's okay.
It's way easier to try and hold on to the status quo and everything that's familiar.
Even though it's slipping away and getting pulled away and blowing up.
You can't hold on to something that's gone.
We are going to be better off if we try and shake off at least some of the shock and see the risk for what it is.
When things get really rough and people are in shock, it's easier to for people well-positioned to grab power to grab even more power.
We need to keep our wits about us and be ready to push back.
Really we need to be ready to drive the transformation ourselves, but we're not that organized yet. Hopefully we get there very soon. Working on that for my part.
What I'm saying is, go ahead and be alarmed. Get emotional. Let it out. Denial is not going to serve us. People telling us everything is fine are not helping.
It's not fine.
What we're going to have to do is find our way through this crap and see if we can turn it around. We can't do that well if we think it's all fine.
More tools for that from me after Monday. I swear and promise. Although believe it when you see it. It's been a long time coming.
In the meantime, keep the faith. In us. In our humanity. In our values.
This country is worth fighting for. I intend to do what I can to keep it. I hope you're in, too. We've got shift to do.
